I was waking up this morning and this random thought popped into my head:
“Does my spirit have its own voice?”
It sounds silly – I know, right?! But, if you know me at all, you know that I have to know the ins and outs. I figured I would make this mornings thoughts Part II of “Who Are You?”
“The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak,” (Matthew 26:41). This tells me there are two distinctive decision makers: the spirit and the flesh.
Your Spirit Speaks the Real You
Do you ever have that desire to give to someone randomly, buy their groceries? You see someone and you just know they’re hurting, you want to pray with them…but…”that would be silly! What if I’m wrong? I don’t want to offend them!”
The desire to help is your spirit; it’s who you are. You are not your flesh, you are your spirit! Your spirit is love, and it desires to do good! It speaks to you and says, “Go help them, go tell them Jesus loves them.”
Your flesh makes excuses for those thoughts, because your flesh is of the world. It doesn’t understand the things of the spirit. Man! I could go on and on..God is showing me some pretty cool stuff guys! Life changing stuff.
May Your Voice Be Heard
ANYWAYS–your spirit has a voice! And, the voice of your spirit is perfect, always leading you in love, peace, joy, thanksgiving! You have to choose who you submit to (Romans 6:16).
1 Corinthians 6:17 says, “But he who is joined to the Lord is one with Him in spirit”. You are joined to the Lord when you give your life to Christ. You are now one with Him in spirit. Your spirit testifies to what His Spirit is saying!
“These things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything – even the depths of God. For who knows a persons thoughts except the spirit of that person which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God,” (1 Corinthians 2:10-12).
You get that? We are now one intertwined with the Lord in spirit, and the Spirit that we are intertwined with searches out the heart, the depths of the Lord and then relays His heart – to us! Not only does your spirit have a voice, but it is directly lined up with God’s heart. Perfect, holy, beautiful! Isn’t that amazing?
So, if you’re thinking, “That would be great if I could HEAR my spirit, if I could HEAR God.” Well, we’re going to go over that the next time I hop on here. For now, ask God to deepen your understanding of this!
