the key to spiritual growth

grandmother and granddaughter portraitWhen a baby is born, biologically, it has everything it needs for adulthood – it just needs to grow into it. The same is true with spiritual growth.

Our spiritual growth is a journey of stages in godly development. As spiritual infants, we feed on the pure milk of the Word. The Bible even says, “As new babies, feed on the pure milk of the Word that you may grow,” 1 Peter 2:2.

Just as a child progresses in natural growth, it is important that we ask ourselves if we are progressing to new levels of spiritual growth. Are we in the Word? Are we doing what the Word says?

What’s His goal? God’s goal is that we all would be conformed into Christ’s image – “For whom He foreknew, He predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son that He might be the first born among many brethren,” Romans 8:29.

So, how do we begin to be conformed? We conform to Christ’s image by studying His Word, following His footsteps throughout the Bible and in the process, allowing it to gradually transform us  into His image.

Jesus is our blueprint – follow Him.
