“To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven,” Ecclesiastes 3:1.
I like potted plants, but I’m not always successful at keeping them healthy. Once I had a beautiful potted plant, but despite my efforts, it withered. So, I set it outside next to the potting soil, intending to use the pot for another plant.
Before I got around to reusing the pot, I noticed a green shoot pushing through the soil. I had thought the plant was dead – but the roots were still alive and sent forth a new, healthy plant that I ended up enjoying for a long time.
I realized God was showing me through this plant that I can always have hope and should never give up. My potted plant’s revival reminded me that my time and perspective are not the same as God’s!
This principle is especially true when it comes to people. God wants us to keep sowing seeds of love and witness. We never know when those will take root and grow – all we know is if we plant love, the crop will grow in God’s time.
