Jesus said: “It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God,” (Matthew 4:4).
The words we speak are alive. We should choose our words very wisely. Not speaking words out of emotion, or by what we see, or by our natural senses, but only speaking what God’s Word says.
speaking the Word
Ephesians 4:29 says, “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”
This is what I’ve been doing lately. When there is a negative situation in life, instead of verbalizing the negative words to God, I try to only say what He would say if He were looking at that same situation. In speaking God’s words, we are speaking life. Our words—whether good or bad—mold the world around us, meaning we will live by all the day-to-day words we say.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue. We eat the fruits of our words,” (Proverbs 18:21).
